The Alex Jones Theory

Michael Savage refered to it without naming names

So who would be more trusted than Navy Seals? Or maybe private contractors hired by DHS from blackwater?

It makes a nice theory, but Jones doesn’t always check things thoroughly, particularly if he is building a great theory. The pictures don’t have any details that I recognize from the race – these may be pictures from a Christmas parade in Texas in 2003.

One of the guys has an official ID hanging around his neck – does it match anything worn at the event?

    Uncropped picture

Okay, so it is clearly from the event at the place the first bomb explodes. Ignore the markings on the photo. I’m pretty sure the woman circled in yellow is the Boston U grad student who was killed. Per the map from the NY Times, the bomb is sitting at her feet.

So, does it make sense to pass a law against having/carrying the following items in public places/events? 1) backpacks 2) pressure cookers 3) baby strollers 4) coolers 5) suitcases 6) purses.

Liquid containers that can hold more than 3 oz of fluid!

Pedantic trivia – ball bearings are not the metal balls, but enclosure that holds and includes the metal balls

Wow. I did know that liquid containers are generally not liquid, but an enclosure that holds the liquids.

Mr Bubble produces a lot of genuine liquid containers.

A bit of clarity – the photos from the TV station showing a brown bag sitting next to the mail box is the site of the second blast, which isn’t confirmed yet to have been a pressure cooker, but the bag matches the bomb location,

The first blast was right near the finish line – the marker on the pictures is the scissor jack truck holding the cameras. What isn’t lining up is there is a metal barrier to protect a seating area right next to what is pretty obviously the blast crater in the sidewalk

    Pictures with a clearer context

It’s clear that many of the pictures of “accuse some guy with a black backpack” are pretty random – they’re crowd photos from much earlier the blast was 4 hours into the race, an hour and a half after the winners crossed the line. There was not a big throng of people still watching the finish line.

There is an area where the “seals” are that have square white flag stones – to their right (if you’re looking at the street) the pavement is a series of red brick squares laid out in a pattern. At the beginning of where the red bricks are is where the metal area is (to the right beyond the edge of the picture). The blast crater is on the far side of that fence – probably about 20-25 feet from them. The original picture could have an imbedded time stamp but only as reliable as the clock in the camera.

I don’t think it unreasonable they are part of the event security – it’s quite a stretch to accuse them of involvement.

I have seen postings on the internet that someone is a suspect because he was not looking in the same direction as everyone else in the instant that a photo was taken. While that is interesting, a single snapshot doesn’t mean anything.

Additionally, I have been seen two Presidents in person. Many of the plain clothes security people are easy to find because they are looking at you as you look at the President, and they spend almost no time looking at the President. I would expect the same of the security at the Boston Marathon.

While Mr Jones has an entertaining show, and I often agree with what he says, people in the crowd behaving different than the others are indeed interesting people. I do that myself when looking for a porta-potty. 🙂
