Nothing to see here

Richard Nixon was in Dallas on November 22nd, 1963 – just a coincidence.

If it isn’t obvious, Dealey Plaza is just above the 3D icon at the bottom of the picture

    Interesting story here about debt:

“We were not foolish enough to try to make a currency [backed by] gold of which we had none, but for every mark that was issued we required the equivalent of a mark’s worth of work done or goods produced. . . .we laugh at the time our national financiers held the view that the value of a currency is regulated by the gold and securities lying in the vaults of a state bank.”

For what it is worth, I tried to give cite the person that gave that quote and my posting did not show up. Once I removed the name, the posting showed up just fine. 😉

        Godwin’s law. You lose.

The autobahns and the resulting interstates are good, regardless of where the idea was sponsored.

Godwin’s law must fade or we run the risk of repeating history.

Don’t forget the socialist worker’s car – Volkswagen

Godwin’s law made sense immediately after the war. Those that fought in the war and survive had some very emotional stories and triggers, and those that survived in the concentration camps even more so.

The reality is that the was was over 68 years ago, meaning that there are very few living people that took part in it – those 20 years old at the end of the war in 1945 would be 88 today and unlikely reading a blog.

It is easier for people born after the war to discuss it rationally without the same emotional hot buttons and flash points.

It is an important thing to do, lest we risk repeating a bad chapter in European history.

Never a big fan of the Socialist Worker’s car, but I have always been a big fan of the song about socialist worker Joe Hill. Regardless of your politics, it is some good story telling:

My Aunt (long dead) was big into eugenics, hated black people and drove a Bug with a manual transmission – and she was a schoolteacher. It completely adds up for me.
