Banana Diversity

Many people know that French wines only exist today because they are grown from grafts onto North American root stocks after a North American pest was introduced into Europe.

Panama disease may do the same thing to bananas, which are all genetically identical plants

When did shoe throwing go out of fashion? I rather enjoyed that. It still seems popular in the Muslim world. The United Kingdom was hit with a lot of creame pie throwing in the past few years… and now bananas. I say bring back the shoes!

While none of these is really polite, I prefer it to the Molotov cocktails and worse that were popular in socialist revolutions.

If you read far enough down, it basically tells you why – it’s a pretty blunt notion that black people in Africa are not humans, but some other species that belong in a zoo and eat bananas.

I got that. Bananas are an interesting item. My understanding is that recent immigrants to the US from China and perhaps elsewhere in Asia use that term to refer to American born people of the Asian race- The recent immigrants think of the Asian Americans as yellow only on the outside, white on the inside.
