Revolution starts in Boston

The same day it is announced that the NY Times is dumping the Boston Globe newspaper for a 96% loss to the owner of a sports team, the Boston Herald (Howie Carr’s paper) is launching an Internet only news/talk station. With WTKK-FM dead, there are several Boston area people looking for work – Michael Graham will be one of the hosts. Next time his contract runs out (maybe before), I could see Howie Carr showing up there. In general, the courts consider doing an Internet show as not competing with “real” radio.

So now we have come full circle – AM radio was mostly started by newspapers, and may well create what replaces them.

You only get one chance to make a first impression

    – stream is stuttering
    – phones were not working
    – heavily dominated by female chatter

The first thing I heard was the women chatting about was would they have sex with Arod, and the consensus was “yes” since he has a lot of money they could take. Later on one of the women mentioned she just had a baby a few weeks ago.

Okay, we know what you are. We’re just haggling over the price.

Radio is not “TV without the pictures”. Being a Hot TV Chick will get you nowhere on radio.
