My guess would be a ‘chicken fried’ steak sandwich or possibly a fried pork chop sandwich.

Nice size portion and fries too. I could eat that mid-afternoon and be able to skip lunch and dinner. Two meals in one.

Is this Monday’s edition of the “Where’s Art in NC game?”

So, the answer was this is the Chicago concept of what a “poor boy” is.

It was billed as cube steak with mushrooms, green pepper, onions and cheese.

The “cube steak” was more like “Chopped remnants of bovine flesh byproducts formed into a rectangle cube like shape”. It was pretty gross, actually, even by my low standards. From the ketchup on the table, their food supplier is Sysco (boo000!)

“Poor boy” means different things in different places. Po’ Boy is a sandwich from New Orleans – French bread (what else?) with roast beef and/or seafood of various varieties. In North Carolina in my working days at the restaurant, it was a submarine sandwich with ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on a buttered toasted submarine bun.
