So the phishing attacks begin 🙂 I really really doubt the email he got was legitimate….
But the reality is that’s what is coming and there is nowhere to hide. The “Tax”for 2014 is the $95 per year, or 1% of your income, whichever is greater. So the guy who started this nonsense would owe about $450 a year if he doesn’t buy insurance. A type 1 diabetic is a VERY high risk insurance person – he likely will have amputations, retinal bleeding that leads to blindness, premature stroke or heart attacks, insulin pumps, etc… he should go for the platinum plan since there is no doubt he will exceed the deductible. He’ll end up paying maybe $10k a year in premiums, and likely will have $50k in claims.
Probably unrelated, but I did get a robocall with a NJ phone number to my cell phone scaring me about all the breakins lately and offering me a “deal” on a security system.
