Healthcare.gov v2.0

Cheeze!

This morning I got an email telling me there was a function online, and it actually works (mostly) and is more close to what people expected. It has three steps:
– see if you qualify for a subsidy
– given where are located, which plans are available and what is the total cost (without the subsidy)
– apply for coverage.

The original web site was backward, maybe because it was built for Canada where apply for coverage is the only step. The web site was forcing people to give up all their personal data and qualify before they could see any quotes.

Now the web site is offering up quotes for Blue Cross/Shield as well as Coventry One. It is somewhat misleading as its only age choices are Under 50 and 50+ – so the results are fake cheeze, but at least more than a blank page.

Take it for a spin

I gave it a test run for a small business. It requires that ALL my employess be 49 of under or 50 or older – apparently no mixture of employee ages is allowed in a business:

Who will you apply for health coverage for? (Select one.) Only employees
How old are your employees? 49 or under 50 or older
Premium amounts in this tool are based on specific ages.

Learn more about how employee age may affect employee premium cost

Isn’t that called “bait and switch” and a crime except when the government does it?

You’re getting good at this Art – quite a cheeze wiz. 😉
