Mignon Clyburn: let’s let foreigners buy our radio and TV stations

In case you don’t know, Mignon Clyburn is the daughter of a Jim Clyburn, the Assistant House Minority leader. She earned her seat on the FCC by rounding up votes with her weekly newspaper in South Carolina. She is the acting chairman of the 5 person FCC Commission, which currently has only 3 members.

While Senator Cruz is demonstrating the size of his manhood to the TEA party by holding up the two replacement members of the 5 member FCC board, Ms Clyburn is rushing through a proposal to be finalized in November to end the current 25% limit on ownership of radio and TV properties by people who are not US citizens, and make approvals on a case by case bribe…. Errr basis. The National Association of Broadcasters is eager to see this change so owners can “cash out” their broadcast licenses. [which nation is the N in NAB?]

Now the Saudi Prince will be able to buy more of Fox News to flood America with propaganda to get us to attack their enemy Iran, and the Mexican drug cartels can officially buy up the AM radio band. Maybe Fidel Castro can even buy up the radio stations in Miami!

In the good old days Pacifica Radio and WBAI in New York would be screaming bloody murder at the thought of foreign banking corporations buying up radio licenses, but WBAI’s remaining skeleton crew is trying to find a tenant to take over their studio as the station winds down operations.

  1. Art, if I didn’t know what a nice fellow you are, I’d swear you are trying to filet Mignon Clyburn.

  2. Ted Cruz has finally yielded in the face of Art Stone’s ongoing criticism and dropped his hold on Democrat Tom Wheeler’s nomination. The Senate confirmed Wheeler within hours and also gave a thumbs-up to Mike O’Rielly for the Republican seat.
