Public school students failing in college? Here is the fix

It’s no secret that colleges are drowning with students completely unprepared to do college level work and employers are devaluing college diplomas as college graduates often lack basic communication skills.

The result is more and more college resources are being diverted to remedial reading, writing and math skills that weren’t taught in high school and those deficits overlooked by a selection process for students that emphasizes diversity and evidence of social skills rather than the ability to learn on a college level.

Charlotte Mecklenburg public schools has the answer – they’ll teach the college classes!

The irony – the same institution that can’t teach critical classes and communications is now going to add a critical skills and communications curriculum. Makes my head spin.
