This is discouraging. While some people answer the polls choosing the deliberately wrong/bad answers, there is enough votes now on the “what do you want Obamacare to force insurance companies to pay for?” question that the results are getting meaningful.
The 2nd most popular choice is currently “guide dogs for blind people”. Guide Dogs today are provided by several non profit organizations that handle the raising of the dogs and the training of the dogs and owners. There is no blind person without a guide who wants one and there is no government involvement.
The only thing the government has done to regulate this is to make laws to prohibit restaurants and other public accommodations from prohibiting trained guide dogs. A lot of the training for the dogs and owners is to keep the job of the dog focused – so it will ignore other dogs, people’s misguided efforts to want to pet the dog and control of when and where the dog goes to the bathroom.
Another leading choice is Kidney Dialysis – which has been covered by Medicare by people of any age who need it. This is often necessary after other medications have destroyed kidney function. This has been the case since at least the 1970s
“Low information voters…”
Keep in mind the population seeing this poll are visitors who are about 80% Conservatives who are looking for talk shows.
It’s just a matter of time until people will want the government to pay for chemotherapy for their dogs.
