Just when you think it can’t get worse…. A typhoon is basically the same thing as a hurricane – except they build their low pressure center over the Pacific Ocean, and tend to be stronger than Hurricanes.
Typhoon Songda is already at 150 mph winds.

Note that the storm would be moving away from Fukushima if it hits, which mitigates the power – the “strong” side of a cyclone is on the side that is moving in the same direction as the storm – if the cyclone is moving East, the Southern side of the storm sill have the stronger winds. Okinawa is going to get very hard (except the storm may be losing strength).
