This year has seen the largest buildup of ice on the Great Lakes since we started keeping records. The US Steel Mill in Gary Indiana has run low on materials. A steel mill furnace cannot be turned off – if it cools, the bricks lining the furnace have to be replaced

The solution of course is more government funding

Locate on a waterway that freezes and you can expect issues with shipping.
You can grow oranges in northern Ohio too, but would need government funding as well to make a profit for yourself.
I guess they just have to keep melting the same pile of refined steel over and over until the real ore arrives.
The problem is in Lake Superior, so they got a freighter to bring up a surplus load of Iron ore from Detroit.
I suspect the problem is made worse by congestion on the railroads due to the surge in oil shipments and the new regulations forces those trains to move slower.
Cue Harries Reasoner and Chapin

oops. that was Gordon Lightfoot, not Harry Chapin… my bad.
Global Warming (non-existent) causes slow down at Gary, IN steel plant (causes global warming). Well, too much ice and the absence of sun spots points to an ice age. I can’t follow the contrived nonsense of Global Warming crowd, so I can tell you the Maunder Minimum generally indicates an ice age – whether they like it or not.
Shame that – warming would actually benefit the world economies.
