Back in the 1980s, I pondered the idea of – pretend you are a Soviet planner and have 1000 nuclear missiles to target at the United States. Think about where you would send them and how much you would be able to destroy. You’ll have a lot left over.

You only need a couple or so. SOTUA, where almost all the culprits will be in one place. Sure, a few patriots would be lost in the Conflagration, but as Patriot Nathan Hale said, “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” just before he was hanged by the British on September 22, 1776.
One of my “poll” questions asks what happened to Benedict Arnold after he was caught. I can’t find that one now – but here is the one about how Patrick Henry died.
http://streamingradioguide.com/show-poll.php?pollnum=1427
You would think since this web site is mostly visited by Conservatives, they would have an above average knowledge of American history. The top answer is they thought Patrick Henry was caught by the British and executed (likely confusing him with Nathan Hale?). The correct answer is that after the war ended, he was an Anti Federalist – equally as opposed to the US Constitution for much the same reasons he opposed British Tyranny. His efforts were largely responsible for the Bill of Rights being forced onto the authors of the Constitution. Patrick Henry died of cancer in 1799.
Arnold’s story is much more instructive about the American Revolution and the reality of war and the problems of the patriots. In the purported words of George Patton, “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.”
The only reason Washington wasn’t crushed by the British was the French sending trained disciplined troops to Rhode Island – familiar with British military strategy and the gold to keep the patriots army from defecting.
I’m curious why you say mostly conservatives visit this site and answer the polls? i.e. Are each visitor’s poll responses tracked (by user, referrer, IP, cookie, etc) or is it anonymous?
Granted, the blog might reflect a conservative orientation… but how many ‘other’ surfers visit the site, vote in a poll, and then just use the guide or move on? “Drive-by” voting as I’ll call it.
Just wondering how you extrapolated the voter demographics.
The traffic to the site has been consistently 80% people looking for Conservative talk shows. Look at the stats by show type. Note that the 10% “Religion” is the Glenn Beck Show. Progressive talk is around 2% of the traffic, Public Radio about 1%.
This poll is only one of hundreds that you are free to review. The pattern of answers is pretty clear. Your point is noted the polls are self selected participants – but even if you follow the theory that people are deliberately sabotaging responses, answering that Patrick Henry was killed by the British has no obvious motivation other than not knowing and not taking the time to look it up. While I track responses to discourage duplicate voting, registering and/or logging in is not required to vote.
Art, you would make a great history teacher. You are highly knowledgeable and tell a great and entertaining story with that knowledge.
Nathan Hale? Brave and sure.
No phone, no lights no motor cars,
Not a single luxury,
Like Robinson Crusoe,
Was primative as can be.
That’s after the EMP hits
“The vulnerabilities Crain exposed, for example, had been overlooked because taking advantage of them requires an attacker to have access to closed, local networks. Now, a cyberterrorist with a little knowledge and the right laptop can gain that access and cause chaos in a regional power system merely by linking up with the control panel at a secluded electric vehicle charging station.”

I am targeting Cleveland where I work. The foul weather, lack of championship sports teams and lake effect everything makes it a perfect bulls eye.
Detroit… I’m not sure anybody would even notice, let alone care.
Windsor would. Not to be confused by this:

The way the Cubs have been going the last 100 years…Wrigley Field might be a good place for the Rooskies to start.
Rooskies like da Bears and da Cubs. lol
Think they’ll hit DC?

Good link – the common sense outlined in the article is, unfortunately, not common 🙂
Duck and cover!
You realize that’s the same story right? 😉
I actually hadn’t. 😉 I didn’t follow your link until now.
Are you in possession of a hoax device?
“Edson is charged with …possession of a hoax device.”
http://boston.cbslocal.com/2014/04/15/boylston-street-evacuated-after-backpack-left-near-finish-line/
You can never overstate the danger of a rice cooker full of confetti several days before the race. The crime is probably intended to cover people who take a group of road flares and make them look like dynamite, not a police office who doesn’t know the difference between a pressure cooker and a rice cooker.
When I think of a hoax device, I think of Party City selling Whoopee Cushions.
I had read a second account that the suspect had abandoned the device at the finish line. That is not funny. The first article I had read said police had arrested him for just carrying a rice cooker – just carrying should not result in an arrest but abandoning it at the finish line is like yelling “fire” in a crowded theatre. just IMHO
An empty theater.
It feels like another case I heard in passing of a woman who took a loaded gun to school to demonstrate that the school’s security was ineffective. She was arrested after telling officials what she did and why.
The connection is there seem to be people uncomfortable with freedom and feel a need to force government to set tighter boundaries on people, which they are more than willing to do. I almost think this is built into our genetics of being uncomfortable if there isn’t an alpha leader to follow.
