Favorites

It’s a challenge to maintain a format that doesn’t totally confuse new users (especially a blind user with a text to speech device) and at the same time satisfy “power users”. The former is really the target audience – this is not necessarily intended to be a “sticky” web site that people come back to over and over.

I’ve added back the ability to “Favorite” a radio station on the “What’s on right now” page. I’m not positive if it as ever there and I took it out to unclutter things, but in any case it’s back.

In the event you haven’t noticed it before (which is quite likely!), there are two types of favorite that share the same Favorite me! icon

So in this example, you have the ability to remember that you like to listen to Roy Masters explain scripture to you, or you can favorite a station that the show appears on. If you scroll to the bottom of the list, there is a legend which gives you a link to get back to the favorite station / program list and use it instead of the bloated “show me everything page”.

If you poke around you’ll also see options to not show all the detail, or to show only the Compact version (originally intended for mobile users, but never got around to making that the default for them). You can also limit the listing to only major markets, only small markets or only your favorite shows. You can also click the Yuk! button and make shows vanish from the list. On the player type screen, you can also filter out players you don’t want to use (for whatever your motivation), but since the real player URLs no longer appear [except on volunteer pages], that’s of limited use.

The favorite capabilities require you to have an account, and should move to any computer you login with.
