Last year, Radio Disney pulled the plug on their AM radio network and turned the stations over to brokers to sell. Most of the stations are high power AM radio stations in major markets.
Disney is losing their shirt on this venture. They bought the stations back when people still listened to AM radio. They’re taking maybe 1/4 of what they paid originally and glad to get that.
Disney’s station in New York is being sold to Family Radio, the network created by the late Harold Camping to warn the world that Jesus was coming and he knew the exact date based on his numerological calculations.
Detroit’s WFDF-AM just changed hands from Disney to “the Word” network. They apparently have a Cable TV network whose Christian message is “send us money to protect Israel” (and buy AM radio stations for $3 million in cash)
This station is 50,000 watts, but not quite as useful as some others. People who are familiar with Detroit know that if you head South from downtown Detroit, the first foreign country you arrive at is – Canada. Because the U.S. and Canada have a treaty to not broadcast into each other’s territory more than a few miles, WFDF-AM is directional even during the day so as to not contaminate Canada with US influence.
Perhaps The Word should look into buying flack jackets and basement bomb shelters for Detroit.

WFDF used to be in Fenton Michigan and I listened to it when I lived in Flint in the 1980s. The guy who close to single handed ran the place just died recently

Note the reel to reel tape drive. In his interview, he spilled the beans that with voice tracking, he pretended to be multiple people with different names.
