So you’re probably thinking – where the hell is Chateaugay, NY – and how could it possibly have more listeners than Los Angeles?
The population of the village is 2,155. It’s on the edge of a huge national forest. The main activity in town is a fish hatchery and a cheddar cheese factory.
Oh, and it’s right on the border with Canada, in range of Montreal. Between Canadian Domestic Content regulation (requiring stations to play music by Government subsidized artists) and Quebec’s French language mandates, apparently government stupidity created quite a backlash.
It’s call letters are the airport code for Montreal, YUL.
