A couple years ago, I asked for opinions about how to organize Spanish language radio stations in the directory and didn’t get a lot of response. Ignoring them is not an option – the huge Facebook like counts are solid evidence that radio is increasingly a medium used by recent immigrants, not 20 something year old white kids texting on their obamaphones at Starbucks.
Right now, the Spanish formats are clustered together – segregated if you will. As I break out the formats, it is clear that there is similarity, like Spanish hits, Spanish variety and Spanish oldies. The Spanish formats will move next to the most similar English language equivalent – i.e. regional Mexican will be close to Western Country
