Who owns TV + Radio

While 99.97% of this web site is about radio, the database does track TV.

While the grouping is somewhat arbitrary, this new list gives a really good feel of who owns what on the broadcast media

  1. Art Stone says:

The perception that radio is controlled by a handful of mega corporations (see: Roger Hedgecock) is quite wrong. Here is a list showing the size of owners by AM+FM license counts

The first number is the number of licensees with no radio stations (they ceased operations or changed their name)

With a little over 16,000 licenses, half are controlled by owners with 4 or fewer stations. The list is a little misleading as a few owners put each station or cluster into a separate legal entity (example: Townsquare)
