34,591 pounds of cheese

Wisconsin isn’t called the Cheese capital for nothing!

WCCN-AM is housed in the former Wisconsin pavilion at the 1964 “World’s Fair” held in Flushing Meadows in New York.

It wasn’t actually a world’s fair, and Wisconsin isn’t a country. The folks who own the radio station decided to buy the pavilion structure the dairy farmers used to let the world know about Wisconsin cheese by making a tractor trailer size block of cheese

The Big Cheese

You run into some curious things looking at radio stations.

Ahhh, the NY World Fair 1964-65. What incredible memories I have of the place. At the time I was living in Brooklyn and used to spend all my time at the fair. I fell madly in love with a Japanese dancer (Momotaro Akasaka) and later with a Hawaiian dancer (Muriel Canady). That magic time will remain embedded in my heart and soul as long as I live. Goodness, I hate to admit it but I am crying. As Bob Hope would say, thanks for the memories.
