I got an email shortly after noon from a listener saying Jim Sumpter is ending his show, effective today. He’s had a syndicated radio show for a very long time. I believe a couple of his frequent topics are gun rights and President Obama’s birth certificate.
He renewed his contract with USA Radio Networks back in January 2015, so the timing in the middle of a week in the middle of the month is irregular. He is already scrubbed from the USA Radio Network web site, and nothing on his own web site or Facebook page.
IRN/USA had been put into receivership in 2013 and was sold to a Christian broadcaster in North Carolina late in 2014. USA Radio network was created by the original host of Point of View who died in 2004.
Independent talk radio distributors are an endangered species. This is likely a preview of coming attractions. If anyone knows anything more specific, let us know. Today’s show was a “best of”, so the announcement might even not be from today.

Any radio show that scares you into buying gold, survival food or “identity theft protection” should be a big red flag, no matter how much they love Jesus or how many pocket constitutions they hand out.

His web site is streaming his farewell message on a loop. It confirms his exit, but doesn’t add a lot of clarity. The USA network folks gave him his 30 day notice the prior day, and he responded with “why bother waiting a month?” and quit. A lot of his goodbye message was aimed at Rush Limbaugh, the shill for the Republican Party.
