It’s “Apple Takes over Radio” day

IOS 8.4 has been released. One of the main reasons is the rollout of Apple Radio. With its Billions of dollars in the bank, it sounds like Apple’s “live” streaming service is being done “on the cheap”.

Will Americans be drawn to a global music channel where the DJ gives a shoutout to a listener in Eritrea? I tend to think not. Time will tell. So will Newsweek.

If you have any readers under 30 (maybe even 35?) they probably don’t get the Time/Newsweek joke.

It appears that the 24/7 “live” Beats 1 channel is 12 hours that is repeated. I always get a chuckle when I visit a station and clicking on “live streaming!” takes me to an archive of the station’s morning show.

Apple radio is built on the AOL model. To get the free trial and unless you cancel the trial, Apple starts charging the $9.95 a month until you notice the charge and try to cancel
