Copyright Fair Use 101

I’m going to try to be gentle, but that’s not easy for me.   I’m not trying to step on people’s toes, but I have to nip this in the bud.

This is not Free Republic and I don’t want it to become like that site.

Almost all material on the Internet is protected by copyrights.   Please do not copy/paste text from news stories or other blogs into your comments.  Posting a link is fine.    Describing the content of what is behind the link is fine as long as you aren’t just plagiarizing the article.    If we’re driving traffic to a web site, they’ll be happy – if we’re trying to draw traffic to this web site, they will be unhappy and if they’re unhappy, I will be too.

If the actual words used by the story are relevant to your opinion – for instance if you are pointing out blatant media bias, that’s suitable so long as you write substantially more about the BRIEF passage than what you have quoted.

also….please take off anything i posted that didn’t conform…..i won’t “get my feelings hurt”……please also adjust the formatting on anything i posted as you see fit….i tried to do some italics…and also some bold….and the codes seem to override each other at one point….and it didn’t appeal to me aesthetically….but i couldn’t remove it…or edit it after i posted it 🙂
