Back before the 2008 election, I used PollDaddy briefly to add polls to the web site. After a couple weeks, I added an answer to a poll question that was mildly caustic – something like “because Obama is stupid” – the only implication of racism or anti-Islam would have been in the mind of the reader. Almost immediately, the account was banned. Message received.
By writing a new polling system built into the web site, most TOS violation threats go away. As long as the purpose of the web site is not “hate” or promoting illegal activities, hosting companies are not going to get excited that I (or you) think the President is Stupid.
The poll system allows any registered user to create a poll and create the answers. It also allows anyone (who is logged in) to add another answer to the poll – unless the poll author prohibits it.
Polls are screened before they become visible, mostly for things that could be libelous or illegal (like advocating killing a public official, but beyond that there will be a pretty wide berth.
There were some bugs and a lot of really stale polls. Those have been cleaned up. The change today is the addition of allowing you to upload an image for a poll. Please use good judgement about copyright and trademark issues.
There aren’t a lot of places that allow this kind of freedom. Use it or lose it. Questions definitely don’t have to be related to radio. Try to be thoughtful and not just steer everyone to the answer you want to hear – like radio station polls do.
