    He generally is saying things I believe – that the Pakistani ISI was involved in 9/11, Al Quaeda was backed by Saudi Arabia and the Taliban was only involved to the degree that ISI demanded they let Bin Ladin train in Afghanistan. People might be rushing to wrong ideas about Dad and his motivations. The narrative is starting that he is “anti-US”. I see no evidence of that yet. I suspect he helped the Reagan administration to help push the Soviet Union out.

    For your cultural enrichment, he is speaking Dari, the official version of Afghan Farsi (Persian), not “Arabic” as people on Free Republic believe. Pashtu is the other language used in Afghanistan for official business, but the Pashtun live near the Pakistan border area – and many of them use Dari as their primary language

    The bottom picture was not at the State Department – Room B330 is the State Department Liasion office in the Rayburn office building for the US House. Its primary purpose is to expedite paperwork when a House member wants to travel to another country.
