Fortunately nobody had a handgun to shoot the driver and let them eat lead.
Obviously, the solution is to limit the size of trucks and limit them to 10 km per hour. It’s obviously the smart thing to do. The time for debate is over.

Trump has called off the 11 am news conference
With this event in France, obviously the RNC needs to cancel the convention in Cleveland for “security” reasons
It took so long for the French security teams and Police to remember they were armed and could shoot, that the terrorist was able to drive a full mile down the crowded avenue.
So now a few details are coming out. My initial guess was this wasn’t an “ISIS” attack. He was from Tunisia, the former French colony in North Africa. While his attack was horrific, ISIS would probably have used a truck bomb. Another tactic used in the Middle East is an initial attack followed by a larger attack to wipe out the first responders.
In any case, he was using a rented truck. He had entered the area around noon and told them he was delivering ice cream, despite the truck having no refrigeration unit. He parked on the street and just waited for nightfall.
His sister says he never went to the mosque and wasn’t religious. He was the father of three children and worked as a delivery driver. He had a run in about six months ago with police over road rage and was separated from his wife.
Until today, I had no idea what the movie 50 shades of Grey was about. The sequel was being shot in Nice. I have to admit to being shocked by the point to which our culture has descended.
I have always been uncomfortable in large crowds. One of my takeaways was the crowds of able bodied young people running away from the attack. I would like to think in America that the crowds would run toward the victims and try to help them rather than leaving them in the street dying waiting for government employees to show up to help them.

Looking at the before and after pictures, it is pretty clear to me he was bulking up on steroids. He was promiscuous with both men and women. His genetic background is hard to pin down. He is definitely not black and doesn’t even look like a Berber or an Arab. He looks like your basic white European who just happened to be born in Tunisia, probably with French grandparents, maybe a little Greece, Egyptian or Turkish ancestory
