The Station that feels good listening too!

Connecting a couple unrelated dots….

LPFM is going to blast onto your radar screen next year big time.  Low Power FM stations are 100 watts or less and with a range of 5 miles or less – for use by government agencies and non-profit organizations (like ACORN and SEIU and La Raza).

Shortly the FCC is going to lift the floodgates on the next step up – the FM Translators, which have  backlog of over 6,000 applications.  The war between LPFMs and FM translators is going to be ugly to fill the gaps out there.

Now the other dot – a week or so ago I wrote about the bizarre golf course being built in the cesspool called Benton Harbor, Michigan – it even has the “left” upset because of its bizarreness (part of the course is being built on city park land)

So it turns out the City of Benton Harbor owns an LPFM station already.    I just discovered their web site

LPFM stations – while being non-commercial are not limited to only the non-commercial part of the FM band (88-92 MHz), which is part of the reason the NAB is so violently against any expansion of LPFM.

The Benton Harbor city owned LPFM station’s web site is a bit incomplete, but if you’re not familiar with the place will suggest what their communisty is like.
