At the News Conference, the explanation of why Steve Malzberg’s show had to go was Malzberg was doing a national syndicated show, and WOR wanted a “local” show.
Steve Malzberg’s show was syndicated by the pathetic operation called the “WOR Radio Network“. It was WOR who decided Malzberg should do a national show. That has nothing to do with this. WOR is regressing back to become the station that used to be run by the guy who left to program Air America.
David Paterson, the man who became Governor of New York by accident when Elliot Spitzer got caught using prostitutes is the new 4-6 afternoon host. I don’t know yet what the WOR Radio Network will do – since it is now a local show, people in Texas don’t care about New York City. Perhaps Joy Browne’s show will be carried before 10 PM
Joy Browne is also drastically changing her program. She is burned out talking to women about their problems. Last night she was trying to get men to call her show to talk about football with her. Maybe she is trolling for a sex partner.
Steve’s page indicates that WOR is buying out his contract until its end in October, but decided to yank him off the air – not at all unusual in radio
I think Steve should join me in saying to them, “**** you and the WOR you rode in on.”
