A new sports low for radio

Thom Hartmann is supposed to be on WXXM-FM at the moment.

I’ve been listening for about 10 minutes and still can’t figure out which sport I’m listening to – the hosts are giving no hints at what sport this is beyond there being a ball and a net.   The co-host is female, so it must be a woman’s title 9 affirmative action “sport”.

After using Google, I was able to determine that this station is carrying a college women’s volleyball match.   (confirmed as I started to type this – Minnesota vs Wisconsin)

Now that translates really well to radio!

    I guess they didn’t mention that ? : )

      You sexist pig, you!

If someone was smart, they would find a way to add pictures to radio so you could see the volleyball players take it in the shorts.

About the only thing their narrative was during the game was…. and the team now has a .227 kill ratio during the 3rd quarter, which ranks them as the 5th highest in the conference and the 3rd best ratio in the history of the school…. just basically nonstop meaningless statistics – they weren’t even describing where the ball was going, who did what, why the point was scored…. the guy was too busy telling us statistics, and the young woman…. I’m not sure what she was talking about…

After I wrote that original blurb, they played taped interviews with the seniors – this was their last match, and the interview was pretty awful. Take clueless local people trying to do radio with no radio experience, and have them interview an equally clueless volleyball player who is just annoyed some radio guy is asking her questions. [Undoubtedly, part of getting her full ride Title 9 scholarship was agreeing to do press interviews].

The first question was something like
“So, now that you’re getting ready to move on from college [to pro volleyball? haha], what is your best memory of playing with the team….”
“Gee, you have me there….. I can’t think of one”

      Now that’s entertainment!

    >”You sexist pig, you!” Not at all, I was merely giving a complement : )

LOL, I used the wrong ‘where’, should have been ‘wear’ .
Is there pro-woman’s volleyball other than Beach volleyball? and can we complement their ‘uniforms’ in Beach volleyball? Ah that’s right the summer Olympics are next year.
    Yee-Haw !
