Sidwell Friends School, Pearl Harbor Day and Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck is stirring up his troops to wage war against the Sidwell Friends School, which decided their menu for Pearl Harbor day would be Japanese food.

Anyone who pays the slightest bit of attention knows that Sidwell is run by the Quakers, and the Quakers oppose all wars for all reasons.

Quakers believe that God tells them to listen to other people and avoid using violence to resolve disputes.   Some guy named William Penn was a Quaker who came to North America and founded a colony called Pennsylvania.   His statue stands atop the City Hall in the City of (Phila) Love of  (Delphia) brothers – overlooking Constitution Hall where this country was born.

Unlike Glenn Beck’s public school education, the students at Sidwell are probably taughht that FDR lied to the American public when he declared that Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor without provocation.    They learned that FDR had imposed an embargo and blockade on oil to Japan to try to stop it from pursuing its war with China.

“I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.”

If this is news to you, I’ll direct you to read this more detailed description by that left wing progressive Patrick J Buchannon over at WordNet Daily

Since they are Quakers and don’t dig wars of all kinds, I suggest they lay down, take their licks and shut up about it.

Beck Side Note: Today, during his broadcast, many times he implored his audience to tune in tomorrow for yet another major Beck-announcement, same Beck-time, same Beck-channel. Glenn’s idea of major announcement, usually, is a far cry from genuinely important. So he might have to change the staging of one of his performances (that was a major announcement of the past). On some issues he will be seen as prophetic but is he getting celebrity bubbleitius? Just asking, I don’t listen as much as I used to.

I heard him say something about “6 days from now” a few days ago. Probably a new book or something. Most of the program is turning into either promoting books or “what’s on GBTV tonight”
