Cumulus shows Joe Crummy the door at WABC

Crummy has had the 10AM-noon shift at New York’s WABC-AM since Joe Scarborough and his female cohost “went on hiatus” in order to “retool” their radio program.

Ah, yes… the old “they went on a cruise” ruse.

That is how the Liddy & Hill show was terminated at KFYI. I believe it was Joe Crummey who filled in for them. Initially, listeners were told Tom Liddy (son of G. Gordon) and Austin Hill had “gone on a 2 week cruise”… or Gilligans ‘3 hour tour’.

Liddy made one too many ‘radio faux pas’ and the station terminated their show.

Everyone in the biz immediately realized their fate, as -nobody- gets 2 weeks off.

I liked Crummey when he was at KFYI, and Hill is much better off without Liddy.

Do you detect a pattern here of how organizations are using the fact that people today have the attention span of a gnat?

Perhaps the fact I haven’t watched TV since 1996 might explain my ability to stay focused for at least 2 minutes.

… attention span of a gnat.

Indeed! This has been induced and exploited by the MSM, politicians, and social engineers… to manipulate the proles.

I ditched my TV back in 1992-93. FM radio in 1997. AM?

It may sound absurd, but our dog seems to have more sense and better focus than some people… smartest dog we’ve had.

For about the past two years, I’ve made a conscious choice to not turn on the radio when I go somewhere in the car (which is less and less often).

I do have the iPhone and sometimes have it playing an out of market station, but more often I just have nothing playing. It’s amazing. You don’t die. And you pay much more attention to what’s around you on the road.

Already scrubbed off the schedule but red eye radio remains.

In an incredibly stupid move (maybe for contractual reasons), the show will continue to be called RedEye Radio. The Midnight Trucking guys will take over the show, but keep the Redeye Radio name according to the press releasee.

If you’ve listened to Midnight Radio Network, at least half of the show is talking about the trucking business, and has a large stable of long time advertisers selling products aimed at truckers. It’s a niche, but those are the people awake at 3 AM listening to AM radio.

Or maybe not. Midnight Radio was on Sirius XM for a while, but got bumped off when the stations were adjusted to make room for a different trucking show. What do truckers listen to now while driving across Kansas in the middle of the night? Or are there long distance truckers driving any more?

Maybe it’s me. That was a compelling show with a passionate and well rounded host and lot’s of callers. I hate to admit, i can’t listen as much as i would like because I need to get some sleep. The guy would keep me up for hours. Sorry to see him go.

I don’t know about Crummy, but I will miss Red Eye Radio with McIntyre.
He has a really interesting show, and a pretty smart guy.
    Cool webpage too.
The thing I regret is I only found the show about 6 months ago.
