The corporate power grab for control of the Internet is in process

The people behind the trash on TV, music and movies want the power to file a motion with a judge and get an order to have ISPs refuse to honor DNS request for “banned” web sites – sites only accused of infringing copyrighted material. What is necessary to get a judge to sign off is negligible (especially if that judge is friendly to corporate show business interests).
With a presumption of guilt and a draconian remedy, defending a claim of “fair use” would be a large burden. For me, this is pretty much a non-issue – blocking my ability to use Google ads means nothing since I have no revenue stream. Most people (but not all) realize that I’m providing free publicity and not undermining what they’re doing.
So far, most of the legislators want no part of this bill – but it’s exactly the kind of thing that often passes by voice vote at 2 AM the day before leaving for Christmas.
And you know the zObamabies are drooling at the prospect. How long before someone shows up with an order to block MichaelSavage.com? It doesn’t matter that the claim is without merit – all it takes is one friendly judge. How many web sites can survive for months while fighting a legal battle to prove the site is not infringing copyrights?
Government is all about force, coercion and control. That’s why libtard busybodies love it so much, even if one day the Leviathan turn on them. Sorry not to be able to offer consolation, but I think it’s a matter of how soon, not if.
We continue to lose liberties in the “Land of the Free”, but most sheeple are happy if they just get their American Idol or the latest on the Kardashians. Indeed we are getting close to the day Aldous Huxley predicted. It’s our new “Brave New World”. Just as Piquerist mentions above . It happened with Madame Guillotine and “le terreur” during the French Revolution… It will happen here.
Howard Stern has been hired for $10 million to be a judge on One of those TV talent shows for people with no talent. If Ted Mack were alive today, he would be spinning in his grave.

With strong opposition from both right and left, this bill SHOULD have no chance. But Art is right — beware the sneaky pre-Christmas recess vote!
Congress is so out of touch with reality. Term Limits now !
I would vote for a Squirrel now before either one of my U.S. Senators currently from the state of Virginia. This kind of stuff that Art describes, drives me crazy .

The usual rejoinder to term limits is that would just further empower the permanent rulers – the non-appointed employees who spend their lives writing volumes of regulations and writing up reasons why their department must spend more money. It’s the parasite that’s the problem – the Congress is the symptom.
IMO, Congress is the vector… SEIU is the symptom.
We need to start somewhere, so let’s begin with term limits.
SEIU are the footsoldiers. The Generals dont’ belong to the SEIU.
I’m right beside you, Parrott. I am absolutely and staunchly one hundred percent in favor of universal term limits for ALL government positions, including judges and justices and staffers, et alia. None shall be permitted tenure exceeding that accorded to United States military men and women. Period. Twenty to thirty years max and out you go. All of you.
PS – with the exact same retirement as our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen and Marines. Not a cent or perk more.
