Windows Media Problems with Firefox – solution

A few stations are using an embedded Windows Media Player stream as the only way to hear their streams, and a few of them don’t work in Firefox.   For example:

What you get is this:

an inert player that looks vaguely like the original Windows Media player from a long time ago (Note:  I’m using Windows XP – Win7 may behave differently)

If you see a problem like this, go to Tools / Add-ons on the Menu, and look down the list for the Windows Media Player Plugin Dynamic Link Library and Disable it.

and then the player works normally.
