Tuesday is Republican Primary day in South Carolina.

This poll shows the latest estimates and the trend.
In a week, Ron Paul went from 9% to 20%, yet he is barefly mentioned in most of the news stories, and certainly not in the headlines. Romney lost 2% in a week.

Newt Gingrich is a Southerner – Georgia shares a border with South Carolina. If I were Newt’s adviser, I would speak on more general terms – describe Romney as a “NorthEastern Banker” – that phrase will resonate in the South among people who are natives of the South. Throw out mentions of “Harvard” a few times and mention who else attended Harvard.
The Governor of South Carolina is a Republican woman – born of parents from India. She has endorsed Romney, which is causing her a lot of grief among Republicans in South Carolina, especially those who identify themselves as “Tea Party” Republicans.
The rest of the State GOP establishment has endorsed Rick Santorum, who dropped from 24% to 7% in a week, yet the NY Times says Santorum is “surging”.
If William Randolph Hearst were alive today, he would be chuckling in his grave. Rosebud.
Just so no one goes scrambling to find the results Tuesday night, the South Carolina primary takes place on Sat., Jan. 21.
Haha….. I thought I fixed that.
I had heard a story about the “protest” that there was a “Debate” on MLK day “on the eve” of the election. I connected dots incorrectly.
Santorum is also picking up momentum in another poll. Since SC is an open primary and there is no Democratic race, look for a lot of mischief in SC as Democrats mobilize to push the Republicans to choose the least electable candidate (aka John McCain)
It’s a great revenue week for South Carolina broadcasters!
