Station List improvements…

In addition to the other new things, the station list can now filter by Parent Company (for the couple dozen largest station owners)…

So now you can ask it “Show me all the stations owned by Clear Channel in North Carolina airing Conservative programming and carrying Fox News for the Top of the Hour News”, or show me  the stations not owned by one of the big companies that carries TRN programming.

The drop down lists also now are listed with the most popular choices first.

Since there are 16,000 radio stations and one person can only set the news provider for 2 or 3 an hour, I’ve opened up the ability for anyone to set the news provider for a station.

If you want to actively help in this effort, use this link at the top of the hour

Many stations also list their news affiliations on the station web sites if you want to just browse there and look…  however, radio station websites are not particularly accurate a lot of the time

Well, that didn’t take long. I regret that I’ve had to pull back on letting people “help”. Someone said the BBC is the news service for WCBS-AM and added 6 stations (that don’t stream) are carrying CNN News after it no longer exists (presumably on the basis of seeing it on the web site).

Finding mistakes will be more time consuming that finding them in the first place. I’m getting a pretty useful sample. Not surprisingly, WTNT is carrying the Washington Times news and I’m finding a smattering of others – but it’s basically a 3 way market with Fox News, ABC and CBS, in that order.

Sorry, Art, I can’t seem to understand what we should be testing or even if we still need to do anything. Guess I must have missed something…
I have been confused for months.
