One of the first things an authoritarian leader usually does is perform a loyalty test, to purge people within the organization who don’t immediately respond and follow your orders.
In the next two months, you will be hearing constant messages from Clear Channel radio stations asking that you donate money from your local community and ship it out of the state to support the City of Hope, a cancer treatment and research center in California.
Tom Taylor’s newsletter this morning describes a communication that was sent out this week to the Clear Channel clusters – Bob Pittman is being honored by the City of Hope and wants to have a great big check to hand over at the ceremony. He provided specific amounts he expects each city to raise, and demands to have the plan to achieve that goal in his hands by Friday.
The country will soon be full of children dying of cancer once Obamacare is rolled back, so surely you don’t want children to die and will give Clear Channel your money…. right?
Do not underestimate Bob Pittman.

Great. Another cancer center that no one can reach. When we have true cancer care, we will have mobile teams that come to a specific hot spot and administer treatment. I don’t live anywhere near LA and I resent leading edge treatments being reserved for high dollar patients in big cities. Last I checked, cancer doesn’t discriminate based on income or geographic location.
No money for you Bob Pittman – not until you do something other than stroke your own ego.
This is the progression of stores asking for donations at checkout (decline) and I think it started dually with WalMart (local store donations countdown calendar in every store) and this phony progressive notion of ‘giving back’. One on the almost innumerable sins of the main stream media is to buy into the fraud of corporate ‘giving back’. I don’t spend much time with people I find offensive but when forced into that situation I just ask the little fifth columnists how many jobs have you created?, how many dilapidated buildings have you swept away and replaced with something pleasing to the eye and functional? how many plants have you started and placed around your environment for beauty and food? Usually the useless little parasites have only pissed and moaned about imaginary injustices. Life’s unfair ‘ya little panty waist, assume personal responsibility and deal with it.
