Making a deal with the devil

The other day, Glenn Beck was talking about web tracking how tempting it is for a service to tell him details about what who his audience and what they do – he decided it was too tempting and he doesn’t want to know.

He didn’t mention what service it was he had been looking at – one that is available and gives away high level information for free is here:

What you quickly can see from their graphs  (Index = 100 is “average”) is that the Glenn Beck audience is highly skewed toward 50+, high income white college graduates,  fairly balanced between men and women.   His Web Site is the 1,674th most visited web site in the United States.

Let’s compare that to a few other radio people with web sites:

Bill Press is 230,000+ in rank and so little data they can’t tell anything from it.

Rush is in the same ranking range as Glenn Beck.   His audience skews even more toward older, richer, white men.

Tom Leykis just recently launched his podcast.   As he has said himself, his listeners are at least 20 years younger than the “big guys” on radio despite being only a few years younger (he’s about 55).   Despite his show being somewhat offensive to some women, he does have women listeners.  His audience has a significant asian and hispanic following, perhaps since he is based in Los Angeles.   Income and education are not particularly skewed in any direction

So what are young people listening to?

KLove’s Christian Contemporary music is largely 25 and under, somewhat female and young adults who have children.

Down at the bottom of these pages are web sites that commonly show up with the people –

Where are the young women with children?

Oh look – Adam, it’s an apple – should we eat it?

Use “Do Not Track (Plus)” with the Blaze and you can see 14+tracking cookies (it varies). At 12 of 14 tracking cookies, the Blaze is one of the highest tracking sites. I’ll check out Beck’s site later. Beck’s habitual use of hyperbole detracts from both credibility and message.
