Meet Bob Pittman

Bob Pittman showed up today on the Elvis Duran show.

I know nothing about Elvis Duran beyond that he is one of the “brands” Clear Channel is building along with Bob & Tom and Ryan Seacrest.

You can watch and form your own impression about him.  I found it more insightful (and depressing) to hear the thought process of the members of the ensemble.  The single most “right on” thing he nailed was that if you think there is going to not be a boss above you, you’re mistaken.  There is always another boss.  Elvis asked him a question about if he had enough self confidence to just do what he wanted, just after Mr Pittman explained several times that he doesn’t make decisions in a vacuum and pays more attention to his critics than the people who brown nose him and tell him he’s brilliant.  I’m pretty sure that’s true and what most good managers believe.  In the end, you are going to make the decisions, but a good manager makes sure the people who work for him believe they were part of the decision making process.  They’ll be much more likely to support the decision or at least less likely to undermine it.

It goes by fast and you have to listen carefully, but the crew made sure The Boss knows that Elvis is “gay”.   Elvis is just a very bad imitation of Howard Stern, but that’s just my opinion.  Nothing I saw in the video has me wanting to hear more

You are right, Art. Too much fluff, nothing worthwhile. I hate ‘Fluff ‘. If that is the future of talk radio, it’s done.
Nothing to see here, keep moving along.
