Buried down in another thread is the information that Rusty Humphries is moving to the old Jerry Doyle time slot, competing with Sean Hannity’s Perpetual Election Coverage show.
I just finished an unexpected 13 hour shift at my new job, taking the Pilot’s seat for 5 hours. I didn’t crash the plane, although a few passengers may have needed barf bags.
So I’m going to create a new Humphries show tied to the current 3-6PM affiliates, and set up a new placeholder for the 9PM to Midnight slot. My guess is that will wind up being the Dr Bill Wattenburg show. The point of that time period is people want a soft voice talking about nothing important so they fall asleep. It’s a good match

This blurb suggests 9PM to midnight may just be a refeed of the afternoon show.

Did someone mention Geo. Noory?
I think you just did
The problem with targeting people falling asleep is they have their radio on but may not be reliably listening to the commercials or even if they are won’t pick up the phone to order itch powder.
The secondary demographic is people awake in the middle of the night without a social network or family responsibilities, and perhaps some difficulty that prevents them from sleeping.
The third group are people who work during the night – police, truck drivers, taxi drivers. They’re wide awake and have jobs and money to spend, however they are a tiny fraction of people who work during the day, and they have lots of options they didn’t have 10 years ago, like playing angry birds on their cell phones while driving across Kansas at 3 AM
With regard to people falling asleep with their radio on maybe someone finally figured out how to embed subliminal “listening” into the commercials, or even worse, embedded into the radio program.
There is a poss-buy gold-ibility you are right.
