Merlin Media dumps WXRP-FM (101.9) in New York

A bit over a year ago, one time Clear Channel CEO Randy Michaels talked Emmis Radio and a group of Chicago investors to take on CBS in 24 hr/day all news stations in New York and Chicago. He failed.

FCC filings show the station is being transferred. The buyer is NYFMEAT, LLC located in Massachusetts, which turns out to be CBS Radio. CBS is paying $75 million – Merlin had paid $250 million for 3 stations – this one and two FMs in Chicago
