Michael “Savage” Weiner has launched on the Cumulus Media Network, having been granted his freedom from Talk Radio Neteork.
What did you think of the New Savage?
I had a problem to solve for work and that took priority – I only heard a few minutes of the show. I heard a part of a caller from KSFO, the station Savage mostly cares about
It was very entertaining. He only said he was glad to be back. Not a word about new stations he is now on, no mention of any legal battles nothing.. The show was a whole 3 hours from what I could tell the 3rd hour was not taped. I did not like the taped part the interviews were too scripted and the news was just a recap of what was talked about live although it did blend together well. Anyways, the new time is not a bother. It was the typical savage show with a bit more excitement, he probably had a few rockstars. Talked about the last pres. debate quite a while and the election. I would of liked to of heard him personally talk about the move, but doubted he would. I am still listening, I hope the move is good for the show. It will take some time to know how well the mass listeners have reacted. Hopefully, some people who never heard the living legend will get a chance.
He did say that he would talk about the move to Cumulus at some point but not the first night.
He did ask this question of the listeners, paraphrasing here, “My voice is different, you hear a difference. It’s a lightness in my voice because I’m finally free from a bad situation.”
Oh, and he did say he was glad to be heard on the San Francisco station since he helped build the station’s audience. All in all, he sounded good and if he can stay interesting, not boring, I’ll listen in regularly since he does have an interesting viewpoint, sometimes. Hey, I like Rush the most but he can get a bit boring at times too. It’s pretty difficult to do a talk show everyday because we all have up days and down days.
He mentioned that he is not going to insult other talk show hosts, and when a woman brought up “the leprechaun” as a direct competitor (tv show rebroadcast on during one hour of live savage), he said that O’Reilly had a good tv show, and pointedly held back from any criticism with an “I just want to do a great show” remark.
Also, the bumper music is now almost entirely 60’s music instead of 50’s music.
Yeah, if holds to that promise it indicates a step-up in maturity.
He also side stepped an opportunity to call his home city “San Fran Sicko”
A caller also started with asking him “how are you?” And he didn’t blow up at the caller.
How much of his TRN behavior was just him trying to get fired? Time will tell
