The upheaval at TRN – with Savage leaving, Jerry Doyle moving to Savage’s time, and Rusty Humphries moving to Doyle’s time – with Salem dumping TRN and Savage is really starting to ripple as the contract paperwork catches up.
Savage being on at 9 PM ET has cleared the playing field. There is no serious live competition (Jim Bohannon, Alan Colmes, and John Batchelor), Savage is picking up high quality stations in each market – almost all of them carrying the show live for all three hours.
Savage has the brass ring – can he hang onto it?
In the third hour, Savage went off on the subject of a study of asexuality, which sounded verbatim from a show months ago. Part of his settlement with TRN is he got the recordings of his past shows.
So it’s election eve and that’s what he serves up?
Perhaps Savage has read the ‘tea leaves’ and does not like what they imply. Perhaps if “R” wins he will not be a happy camper.
I seem to remember him being a “no show” on Super Tuesday.
It takes a lot of energy to talk about politics when you don’t believe what you’re saying. Just a reminder that Mike Weiner contributed money to Jerry Brown’s campaign for governor of California.
Anyone know if “Republican” Mike Smerconish in Philadelphia endorsed Obama again?
Listened to Dennis Miller and he took a lot of calls today, he sounded cautiously upbeat. Lots of anecdotal information from voters: several who were dems voting R for the first time, several first-time-ever voters who were voting R.
Will it be that interesting on Weiner’s show tonight?
Very few affiliates will be carrying the show as they carry local and national election coverage
WFTW is carrying it
Savage is playing a brilliant clip of himself declaring he is the Elder Statesman of Conservative Talk Radio
The self-proclaimed Elder Statesman of Conservative Talk Radio is also being heard on the San Fran-pychco station tonight.
Two of the “good old Savage” behaviors emerged tonight. A caller asked “How are you doing?”. Savage bristled and got angry, but this time he didn’t erupt out loud. He also insulted his producer on the air.
Now he is a 45 rpm record with a stuck needle repeating the mantra of his political hero and Barry Goldwater over and over…
Very similar to what happened today when callers asked Dennis Miller “How are you doing?”. Dennis just ignored most of them and kept the show moving along at a better pace.
Do you think Savage has run low on unique commentary? I understand he has a core ideology, but so far as analysis goes one could group all his ideas together and it would not be a long list. Once he cycles those ideas then we hear a re-run of his commentary.
Most commentators recycle the same commentary so that isn’t a knock on Savage.
