Michael Savage entering Radio Hall of Fame

Thursday, November 17th, 2016

The Museum of Broadcasting History in Chicago is adding the latest crop of inductees tonight. This year they let let listeners vote, so Michael Savage has one more claim to fame.

Also being inducted is Steve Harvey, who just announced this week he is bailing on Chicago and moving to Los Angeles. Since he does a morning show, that leaves a difficult choice – no longer do a live show or start broadcasting at 3 AM California Time and line up guests who have stayed up late and haven’t crashed yet. Nationally syndicated morning shows from the Left Coast just don’t work.

Breitbart

There was no mention of this in any of the Radio industry news sources, except this one from Radio Ink, which is reporting the story after Breitbart broke the story. The only reason I found out was listening to the Alex Jones podcast.

According to the Narrative, WABC-AM was having problems, so Curtis Sliwa and Ron “my mommy is a commie” Kuby stepped in and “took over” the show. I don’t know if WABC was really having technical problems or someone pulled the plug on Savage on purpose.

In either case, word got back to Savage and he reported it on the Westwood One national feed, resulting in his show being pulled nationwide and replaced with a rerun. Will he return today? Don’t know.

In related news, Peter Thiel, the gay Republican billionaire who endorsed Trump at the Republican Convention has been informed that the Department of Justice is moving to terminate all government contracts with his company, based on a finding that his company is involved in employment discrimination.

NY Magazine

But your first guess is wrong. The Department of labor determined that the fact his company only hired 18% of Asians, when 40% of applications were from Asians, therefore the company must not have liked Asians. The Asian population in the United States is 5%.

Would you pay to watch Michael Savage?

Westwood One / Cumulus just extended their contract with Michael Savage, who escaped from his Talk Radio Network prison 4 years ago. At least here, he is the #2 most streamed show, and sneaking up on the Rushmeister.

Part of the new deal will be video streaming, ala Rush 24/7 or Beck’s The Blaze. Are you ready to subscribe?

Michael Savage named to Radio Hall of Fame

Monday, July 11th, 2016

The Hall of Fame opened up voting to the public and the listeners to radio chose Michael Savage. Several radio executives were asked if they plan to commit suicide, but there was no immediate comment.

Perhaps Sally Jesse Raphael can get drunk again and do the introduction. She is still alive, right?

Alex Jones makes a huge error

Friday, June 17th, 2016

Alex Jones is spreading himself too thin. He stated on yesterday’s show he used to work 18 hours a day. His 4 hour/day show would be much better as a 2 hour show with careful show prep.

Yesterday he started talking about the murder of Jo Cox, a Labour Party MP for the U.K. Jones was portraying (as far as I have listened) that she was backing Brexit, and her murder was obviously connected to the cabal that runs the EU

Even a slight look at anything – like here tweets to #remain would make it clear she is a supporter of staying in the EU – she is an “opponent of the EU Brexit”.

In the past, when Jones is confronted with data that proves his beliefs are wrong – like the Amtrak extermination camp in Indiana, he won’t back down and admit he was wrong.

It puzzles me why Donald Trump is aligning himself with Jones and Michael Savage, except that it doesn’t. The Dump Trump forces were in full attack mode last night on John Batchelor. It sounds like the RNC is prepared to ignore the voters, declare your votes mean nothing, and deal with the consequences. I feel their pain. Trump is on a suicide mission to destroy their party. He won’t talk to donors, won’t do any campaign organizing, isn’t coordinating with the RNC and has no willingness to adapt his ideas to reality.

Crossing the Brexit when you come to it

Donald Trump may be a chess player. There was a little news item today. Donald Trump will be visiting his Golf course in Scotland on June 24th, the morning after the British people vote on whether to leave the Euroean Union.

Guardian story

With the probability of Trump being the next President creeping up to 35%, there is no bluster any more from Prime Minister Cameron. A Donald Trump victory could have profound effects on the economic and military relationship between our countries. England would still like to believe it rules the world, but when Europe decided to knock off the country of Libya, France and England could barely get any planes in the air – Norway ended up doing much of the work using their American planes.

I sure hope Trump demands the travel ban against Michael Savage gets lifted.

“What you read on Zero Hedge is nonsense”

Admittedly, Bloomberg is not a neutral source

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-29/unmasking-the-men-behind-zero-hedge-wall-street-s-renegade-blog

For about the past month, Bloomberg’s acrimony to anything Trump has vanished. I’m not sure why.

Westwood One is PRing today about Trump talking to Michael Savage at the conference of fake Conservatives.

NY Times weighs in on Cruz/Trump on talk radio

Tuesday, March 29th, 2016

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/30/us/politics/conservative-talk-radio-trump-cruz.html

For the NY Times, this is an amazingly objective fact based summary. Conservatives were not called names. It has a picture of Michael Savage in his studio (in 2007). They explain the situation with Limbaugh, Savage, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck, Hannity and a mention of Mark Levin. That’s pretty much the list of those in talk radio who still matter.

Unrelated, the FCC wireless incentive auction gets underway at 6 PM ET today. I figured Comcast (which owns NBC) may benefit. Comcast has said it may buy up some of the spectrums without saying why. Perhaps they have plans for wireless IP pay per view porn.

The Sanders campaign is as dead as Antonin Scalia

Wednesday, February 24th, 2016

Take a look at Real Clear Politics collection of polls

The only states where Bernie may win are Vermont and Massachusetts. Hillary has an insurmountable lead in California, Texas, Florida, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and even socialist Minnesota. Bernie would need 60% in those states to overcome the Superdelegates.

Scalia’s Doctor released details, but it won’t stop the conspiracy theories. In addition to his weight, 79 year old Scalia smoked, had advanced coronary heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, COPD (emphysema).

The law in Texas (Michael Savage’s ignorant hysteria not withstanding) is an autopsy is not required if the death is consistent with an established documented medical history and no obvious sign of foul play. The family had the right to ask for an autopsy if they wanted, but they knew him and his health problems in great detail.

In a perfect world, Scalia would have stopped smoking, lost weight, used a CPAP machine and not traveled to a remote part of Texas. He told his host that he was looking forward to a long sleep. Antonin Scalia killed Antonin Scalia. Let it go.

US Supreme Court to Talk Radio Network: Pay Savage

Monday, January 18th, 2016

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/149357/supreme-court-declines-to-hear-trn-s-appeal-of-mic

The US Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal from the Roy Masters controlled Talk Radio Network. Michael Savage had tried to leave Talk Radio Network to join Westwood One, but Talk Radio Network tried to stop him claiming it had a right to match any offer Savage might get. An arbitrator ruled that The TRN offer was not as good as the Westwood One offer, and released Savage from his contract and awarded Savage close to a million dollars in attorney fees.

TRN appealed the binding arbitration. They lost. The US Supreme Court has declined to hear the appeal.

Because of the complicated financial relationship between Roy Masters, the Foundation for Human Understanding that owns TRN according to IRS filings, and a number of different corporations designed to financially insulate TRN, the chances of Savage ever seeing a cent are small. Savage also won the right to his show archives. That TRN will have to turn over unless mysteriously they were stored on Hillary’s email server and were wiped.
