AMF winds up in the gutter

The bowling center operator AMF has gone into Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

What were they thinking?   Bowling (to the extent people still do it) is very much a blue coller, working class entertainment.   In the evening, the guys go to the bowling lanes and drink beer and flirt with the women and talk about how great their new ball is.

In order to turn around a dying business, someone got the idea of creating bowling centers for the 1%… Very fancy lighting, sofas to sit on, and a menu at the snack bar with balsamic glazed filet mignon, quiche and Spanikopita – thin layers of filo dough stuffed with a homemade spinach and parmesan cheese mixture.

I’m shocked that this concept didn’t work out!

Perhaps they should have done away with the automatic pinsetting equipment and used humans for that job.   It’s about all those “little people” can do – but those are the types of jobs Americans just won’t do

I seem to remember 4 years that President Elect Obama was going to remove the bowling alley in the White House.   I wonder if that happened…

Surprisingly, Barack Obama’s promise to tear out the White House bowling alley wasn’t kept.

Perhaps he discovered that bowling is big among Democratic working class people
