After I moved to Chicago, I wrote a brief blurb about Chicago’s incredibly awful handgun laws and how the City can’t put two and two together and figure out it is the gun ban that is causing the gun violence.

It isn’t hard to see the bias of the Sun Times, although it isn’t blatant.
Illinois is the one state where you cannot (legally) carry a concealed handgun – ever. So if you are not a criminal, someone considering attacking you has no uncertainty about whether you have a gun or not.
Chicago is even more restrictive – you may own one loaded gun but you must keep it inside the house – you may not have it with you in your own yard. The fees and licensing process are clearly intended to discourage anyone from even trying to get a permit – but staying within the Heller ruling preventing a ban.
The Federal appeals court threw out the absolute ban and gives the state 180 days to pass a law to create a conceal carry law that permits people to carry a concealed handgun in public. A similar bill almost passed but was held back by opposition from the City of Chicago. Conceal carry enjoys bipartisan support around the country and the bill was written by a Democrat.
In unrelated news, in our Neighbor state Michigan, union leaders are threatening violence as the Michigan Legislature passed a Right to Work law outlawing compulsory dues to unions to hold a government or private sector job.
Maybe there is still hope for change.
Probably shocking to the Sun Times, 98% reading the story agree with the court.
I betcha the revised law will allow gun carry permits, so long as the gun is kept unloaded, has a trigger lock and all ammo is kept in a lockbox.
I remember G. Gordon Liddy always talked about the choice some people are forced to consider, either carrying illegally in the event one needed to defend themselves versus not carrying and perhaps ending up dead. I think that is a bad analogy unless one is forced by circumstances into very dicey situations beyond their control. Such as forced to walk, or even drive though certain areas on a regular basis. Then having a weapon ‘just in case’ means it will probably be used.
Of course in Liddy’s situation he could not legally own a firearm after his felony conviction.
Yes, his wife owned their guns
As I get older I find my abilities to flee or to fight, well, diminished is kind word. I go to the range 3/4 times a month – have picked up at least one of every caliber hand gun. I may not have a gun concealed on me 100% of the time but I am almost always with-in 15/20 feet of a good defense. If O’Bahma bin Lyin pulls the rug from underneath all of the handouts (Bush’s Fault) the angry-demands will leech out from the city. Lead: the hot new investment metal…. heh heh heh. Green tips are nice.
HPaws, have you ever checked out this site? shtfschool dot com ???
Worth checking out what could become more valuable than gold in the future: antibiotics or ammo were key commodities during the Bosnia situation during Clinton regime. Gold was nearly worthless.
Amen Hpaws ! Amen.

Put that in your Pipe and smoke it Bob Costas, you big dummy ! LOL
I don’t watch baseball anymore, just fell out of it after the last strike, and because they don’t shake hands after the game, Costas made me drift even further away.

Reason Magazine points out that DC is going to have the lowest murder rate since 1963 and no explosion of gun violence erupted after Heller.
I seem to remember something happening in 1964 that profoundly changed Washington DC and the country.
I wonder if Hell has high rise housing projects?
