The Cost of Diversity

My new neighborhood near Park Ridge seems to have many immigrants from Eastern Europe, and as a result the smaller supermarkets carry interesting imported products. I picked up a bag of cookies, and wanted to look at the ingredient list. Here you go;

The ingredients in French, Great Britainish, der German, Espanish, Portuguese, Italian?, Dutch, Greek, Bulgarian?, Saudi Arabic

Now you’re thinking that’s a pain in the butt – since you want to sell in America, slap on the required nutritional label with the required colors and font/size.

The European Union has more issues than lack of a common set of budget rules – the lack of a common language makes many things much more difficult.

      Well, you’ll notice they used sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. They’re okay, but not great. I also bought some interesting German cookies – apparently they are sold just this time of year – they basically ginger snaps covered in a sugary icing . If you ate one as a child, you would definitely lick the flavor in your brain and remember it forever.

    Didn’t find the iced ginger snaps but I just bought 6 bags of ginger snaps because someone said they weren’t going to make that brand which I dearly love, anymore. I will freeze them to keep them fresh. I will be on the lookout for the iced ones. I can’t lick the flavor in my brain… (GREAT MIND VISUAL!)
