I see that you noticed, too.
When the news reports that the retail success of this Christmas season depends on a deeply discounted January, when stores are scrambling to get rid of inventory, you know that the profits are not going to be there.
I was interested to hear that a lot of hope for this season was pinned on the sale of gift cards. Gift cards redeemed in January at clearance prices sort of revise those not-to-bright December sales profit projections, don’t they?
