Olympics to drop Wrestling in 2020

The world may love sports, but not two large sweaty men grabbing each other.

Wresting as sport goes back to the original Olympics and could not be more symbolic of the supposed athletic competition that the so-called “modern” Olympics tried to recreate in the 20th century.

Part of the reason for ditching the sport may be that women don’t participate in Greco-Roman wrestling and therefore the sport isn’t fair.

How gay is that?

    That’s pretty gay, Art. LOL

I suspect women are every bit as good at wrestling as men, but I think they prefer not to participate. Sexual overtones? Not very ladylike? Whatever the reason.

Hulk Hogan must be really sad at this news, it was his last chance at winning the belt..

Women apparently do participate in freestyle – the difference (I had to look it up) is in Greco Roman, you can’t trip or use holds below the waist. Unless women are taking steroids, they aren’t going to have the type of upper body strength men have. The different distribution of body weight is also a factor as well as having long hair would be a liability.

Women would have issues for the same reason Olympic gymnists are all very young. Breasts become a liability. Since Greco Roman doesn’t use the legs, many techniques involve grabbing the opponent around the chest. In addition to having something to grab onto, it could also be quite painful.
