Bobbie Dooley says “mmm. hmmmm”

If you haven’t listened to Phil Hendrie, his show has changed a lot in the past few months. Each night, most of the show has become an ensemble show – with Phil, Margaret Grey, Bud Dickman and Roger sitting around talking to each other. Guests are rare, and callers even more rare.

I guess Bobbie Dooley is annoyed that she isn’t on his show much any more, so she has launched her own podcast.

Phil Hendrie is a national treasure. It’s easy to forget that all of these voices are coming from him, and as far as I can remember he hasn’t had a real caller (who isn’t him) in many months. It amazes me that he’s being neglected by TRN, and he’s made no secret of the fact he can’t wait to get away from them. He’s said he makes no money from the radio, and all his income comes from his website and his acting work. I’d love to see him find a home elsewhere, like maybe on satellite radio, where he can truly let loose.

If TRN had a clue, they would move him to the old Rusty Humphries time slot (9 PM-Midnight ET). He’s got to be on in evening drive in California to get the gullible female SUV drivers and the drunk rednecks from Kentucky to get a good argument going.

When I hear a talk show with no callers I tend to suspect it has been recorded earlier in the day and potentially edited.

For sure. Phil has one of the best shows on radio and the evening slot is the perfect time for his show. I travel a lot and his show hard to find in most markets and is on way to late for me to be in a comedic mood.
