Margaret Thatcher invented the Internet!

Google News is interesting today about the death of Margaret Thatcher. The main list of stories I get are highly negative – how she had troubled relations with UK Sports, how Northen Ireland was mishandled, being divisive, how her opponents are glad she’s dead, how her legacy “looms” on, how “some” Btions are having death parties, how she created soft serve ice cream, reaction from Argentina

Not a bit of bias there…

Oh and Miss Beach Blanket Bingo died too

I want to know where Elvis Costello is today since it’s been 20+ years since he wrote this song about her

Baroness Thatcher apparently committed 3 unpardonable sins. 1.She was a conservative woman. Everyone knows that women belong on the liberal plantation.
2.She helped end “the cold war”. That was only thousands of megatons pointed at each other since the end of WW2 in a deadly game of chicken. (all the evil USA’s fault BTW) and 3. She allied with the Press’s enemy-Ronald Wilson Reagan. Any one of these actions would cause George Galloway’s panties to wad up; but all 3? The horrors! And Donna Brazziere has to be to stupidest woman on TV. OR is she just on for comedic affect with that other clown Carvelle? If it ain’t black, throw it back, I guess.

There were issues between England and Northern Ireland under her rule that may have influenced Declan Patrick MacManus’s opinion of her.

I looked up the lyrics of the song and came away with no clear understanding of why he wants to dance on her grave other than maybe she wasn’t Catholic. Some of the news stories mention a coal miner strike. The song doesn’t mention selling off British Air, allowing competition with the BBC, the Faulklands war – that might make a compelling case, but it just comes off as he has fear of a strong intelligent woman and wanted to earn some special favour with the Labour Party

He wrote that song in the 1980s when she was still in power.

She pretty much shut down the coal industry in the UK. It had had huge subsidies the way the farm industry in the US has, and had numerous strikes.

So ironic it was that 15 years later, to see a headline in the UK press criticizing President Bush for not signing the Kyoto treaty to protect the environment… and today to see the same press give no credit for Ms Thatcher for moving the British economy off subsidized coal.

          • Art Stone says:

So she and Barack Obama believe the same thing about burning coal. Who knew?

Does Warren Buffet make any money transporting US coal to the coast for export to China?

Ms. Thatcher had one quality that the liberals hate her for – she exposed them for being the uncaring, unthinking clods they were. She got things done and made no excuses for it. Heaven is a fair degree stronger for her presence.

Yeah I would Trade Obo, Hilliary, Holder, Herman Munster-Kerry, &
Lindsey Graham-Schumer for as good Lady Thatcher & a player to be named at a later date.

No one would take that trade, we’re screwed.

I’d throw McClame….errr…McCain into the trade too, but that’s really weighting the odds, so throw-in all the land east of the Rockies and call it a DONE DEAL!!!!

” No wonder there are riots in the streets! The only puzzle is that the riots aren’t more severe.” Here is some dated yet timely insight on the low popularity of Mrs Thatcher:

Here’s a bit of what might seem like a man-bites-dog story until you know the story of Johnny Rotten.

but remember it was 1977, two years before Thatcher became PM and started ending excessive “government-private partnerships”, that John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) co-wrote and sang:

    “God save the queen
    The fascist regime…
    There is no future
    In England’s dreaming”

I’ve long been a fan of Mr Farage and was please to learn he was a fan of Mrs Thatcher. His short videos are both informative and entertaining due to his honesty and speaking skills. Enjoy:
