In the Cumulus Media plan to destroy WABC-AM, the legendary Bob Grant’s Sunday show has been cut from 2 hours to one.
The reason? To make room for another hour of “health” products – order your cream today to stimulate your clitorus! Lose weight! Get a brain workout!
Out in LA, KABC has cut back Leon Kaplan has been cut from 3 hours to two, replaced by an informercial for memory pills – sorry, I don’t remember the name.

Bob Grant is the Godfather of talk. I grew up in the NY radio market (just not in NY) and listened to him for decades. I don’t get the appeal of medical talk any more than I get the appeal for money talk.
I remember Bob as being more caustic than Michael Savage ever was. In fact, nearly 40 years later, in 2013 when I saw President Carter at the new GW Bush Presidential library, and heard the press mention President Carter, in my head I heard Bob Grants voice from decades past say “Jimmy “I’ll never lie to ya” Carter”
Bob was like battery acid. I loved to hate him when he abused his callers. But a very astute observer of politics especially local. when I live in NJ he would slam the awful Jim Florio administration. Flim flam Florio, he called him. Florio actually banned the sales of eggs not hard cooked for a while. You could not get over easy or sunnyside up.
I visted NJ shortly after Florio was gone and was shocked to see stop signs still plastered with election bumper stickers that read exactly this (not my censorship) :
